Hello Virtual and Blended Parents,
We have a busy week ahead of us with lots of information to pass along! But, let me start by saying, “Thank you,” We made it through the 1st quarter of school with perseverance and grit, and I am so proud of the hard work and effort from your children, and you parents. When this year began, we knew there would be challenges. But, I am in awe of how smoothly this year has been in spite of the unknowns we faced (and still face.) Building relationships is a very important part of who I am as a person, and it has been hard for me to adapt to this new way of doing school as I have limited opportunities to get to know you. Our GT students learned how to make a Marker Robot using a simple circuit with a switch. The vibrations from the motor allowed the robots to move around in unpredictable patterns. They discovered that a simple change from the original design build would make the robots move at different speeds and in different patterns. They had a great time tinkering with their robots in class! Mrs. Grist really knows how to make learning fun!

A Look At Learning:
Ms. Botti's first graders are learning about bats. This week they learned that bats live in caves. They wrote sentences about bats in caves and then made their very own bat in a cave using a cup and a paper clip!
The Green Team, under the leadership of Mr. Rankin, puts in work to keep our school looking clean, while being kind to the environment.
Ms.McLaren's kindergarten friends form relationships, then write about it during free write time.

Parents and community members, we invite you to view our Annual Report to the Public, which provides an overview of the progress made during the 2019-20 school year. It was a great year of Creating Opportunities for Success, which we could not do without your support.

Bryant Schools is providing an opportunity for parents to change their student's instructional option (blended or virtual) beginning second semester (January 2021).
In order to effectively plan schedules for student classes, we are asking parents to submit a form for EACH student (K-12) even if you plan to continue your current learning environment. PreK parents should not complete this form since PreK is only offered onsite.
We will use your selection to place your elementary student in an onsite/virtual classroom or develop your secondary student's schedule for the second semester (January 2021) of the school year.
Information on both blended and virtual learning is available on our website: bit.ly/2StNz1c.
If you have questions, please email your building principal.
THE FORM WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2020 at 11:59pm.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. #LearntheFacts
Dyslexia has nothing to do with vision OR intelligence. It is a language-processing disorder and is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and poor spelling and decoding abilities. It can affect reading, writing, spelling, and speaking.
For more information on Bryant’s Dyslexia intervention services, visit bryantschools.org/page/dyslexia.

The Bryant School District will present the Annual Report to the Public during the regular monthly board meeting on Thursday, October 15 at 6pm. The meeting will be held in the Bryant High School Multi-Purpose Room (Building 10).

Parents and other members of the community are invited to attend. Social distancing will be practiced; masks required.

Here is s message from your HCES Principal, Mrs. Vergason...Fall truly is my favorite season. There is something to be said about the crisp cool mornings, and the serenity of falling leaves. I hope you're able to enjoy the beauty of this changing season!
“If a year was tucked inside a clock, then autumn would be the magic hour.” – Victoria Erickson
Important Information:
Hornet Health Clinic : Take a look at what our Hornet Health Clinic has to offer the families of our Bryant School District. https://youtu.be/qJbFzrOcMUg If you have a medical need, please reach out to us!
Parent Teacher Conferences: Conferences will be October 22 from 2 - 7:30 PM. School will dismiss early for all students, and all conferences will be held via Zoom or phone conference. Be on the lookout for more information from your child's teacher.
Virtual Picture Day : October 23, 9:15-10:15 AM, at the BHS Auditorium... Onsite school picture day was last week on October 1. If your child was absent that day... don't worry! In addition to offering a make-up day later for our blended students, those students may come to the virtual picture day. Virtual picture day for our virtual students (and any blended student who missed our October 1 day) will be October 23 from 9:15-10:15 at Bryant High School Auditorium. Here is a flier and here is the code you'll need to place an order online - Hurricane Creek: EVTTSPTZ8.
Remote Learning Day: October 23 will be a remote learning day for all students. Students will be provided their assignments and will complete them remotely. Be on the lookout for more specific details in the upcoming days.
Flu Clinic Success: We appreciate our district school nurses, and the host of volunteer medical staff who assisted with our HCES Flue Clinic last week. Our students were very brave!
Masks and Water Bottles: I can't stress enough the importance of a clean mask and water bottle every day. With the cooler air our noses begin to run. Little runny noses and masks can be a breeding ground for germs. Get into the routine of doing a mask check each day after school - and throwing it in the washing machine when needed. We have extra masks & are happy to share if you need one. Please ask! We want our students to remain safe from these germs. The same is true for a clean water bottle.
Thank you: Thank you for trusting us to take care of your student. The teachers and staff of HCES prepare for each day with the goal of providing a safe, respectful environment, where top-notch learning happens.
Ask your child to fill in the blanks to this quote spoken during morning announcements.
HCES is a __(safe)__ place.
A place of ___(respect)_____.
And a place where ___(learning)___ happens.
Make it a ___(great)___ day or not, the ____(choice)___ is yours.
We are all in this together!!

On #ChildHealthDay, check out the services offered by our Hornet Health Clinic. Medical, dental and eye care is available for any student in the district. Children learn best with they are healthy, feel well, and can see the world of opportunity surrounding them.

A few favorite fall snapshots from this week. Our Media Specialist, Mrs. S, was a guest reader for Mrs. Lowery's CBI virtual students. They enjoyed hearing a book about "Fall."
Fourth grade friends, Noah and Eryanna, are all smiles as they enjoy the beautiful fall weather & a push on the swing!
