With COVID-19 still a real threat, we need to remain diligent in reporting positive cases to our district Point of Contact (POC), even when school is closed. Our POC phone line will reopen on Sunday, November 29, from 2-8pm for those who have had a positive COVID-19 test or have been designated as a close contact over the break. These individuals will not be able to attend school until their isolation or quarantine period is over. The number is 501-414-6647. We continue to rely on cooperation from families in reporting positive cases and identifying close contacts. The better we are with our prevention strategies, the longer we will be able to keep schools open and have children attend school in-person.

Well Wishes from your Collegeville Principal, Mrs. Edwards! We are looking forward to the week ahead as we prepare for Thanksgiving Break, which will be November 23-27. I hope you all will have a chance to enjoy some time away from school, spend time with family, and stay safe. I know many of us will be choosing to postpone large family gatherings due to the Pandemic and my heart is heavy about that. I miss having our school open to visitors, but especially this week when we normally have many guests for our Thanksgiving feast. You are missed in our building! That said, teachers will be sending out an RSVP for Thanksgiving Feast here at school, which will be Thursday, November 19th. The menu is: Baked chicken, dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, homemade roll, and brownie. To help our cafeteria staff know how much to prepare for our students, please let your teacher know by Tuesday if your child will be getting a school tray on Thursday. Progress Reports will be sent home tomorrow for Blended students. Please be watching for these and contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. You will sign and return your child’s progress report. Remember that Progress Reports are simply a snapshot of your child’s current academic status for reporting purposes to keep you informed. A note to our Virtual Parents: Tomorrow (Monday, November 16) from 8:30-9:30, we will have a drive through pick up day for Progress Reports and other instructional packets the virtual teachers need your virtual student to have. We will follow safety precautions with masks and social distancing by bringing items to your car as you pull through the car drop off lane. Onsite, we are still having lots of items like jackets, sweaters, etc. that students are taking off at recess when it gets warm, but leaving them outside. Without a student’s name labeled in those items, we can’t locate the owner. In addition, we are not having a “lost and found” this year due to Covid precautions. Can you please take a moment this weekend to label your child’s outerwear, as well as their reusable water bottles, lunchboxes and backpacks? Thank you for your help with this. Thank you for all you do to support us and your child’s education! I hope this week brings you sunshine, smiles, and happy moments!

Progress Reports
As part of a coordinated response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in partnership with the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas has developed a Parent/Guardian Survey for soliciting family input on what is working now and what may be considered for the future. We have been encouraged to share this survey link with our families and ask them to complete the survey before November 20th. https://uark.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6X7aRF3ErNNXFel A Spanish version of the survey is available here: https://uark.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3yIElMqjgYCNCLz The survey seeks to involve families in an organized, ongoing and timely way in planning, review, and improvement. The survey will provide feedback regarding: * family concerns * how families are making decisions * family awareness of options and resources available * family considerations for the future The intention of this survey is not to identify individual school or district responses, but rather to establish an understanding of the state as a whole. The information will be aggregated by region only; therefore, families will be asked to identify the region of the state in which they live in order to understand the distribution of the survey without specifically identifying any district or school by name. OEP will be sharing results at the December State Board meeting. Copy and paste the URL below into your internet browser to complete this survey: https://uark.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6X7aRF3ErNNXFel?Q_CHL=email

Veterans Day
The lockdown at Collegeville Elementary has been lifted and the school given the all clear. Parents who need to check out students may now come to the school. Students and staff were not in danger during the lockdown period. With safety our first priority, the lockdown was a precautionary measure only due to police activity in the area.

November 2-6 Happy Sunday from Mrs. Edwards, your Principal at Collegeville! I am both thrilled and astonished that I am sharing announcements for the first week in November! Thrilled because we have been able to have face to face school for over 2 months, and astonished that November is already here! We are ever diligent to make sure we can keep our students safe and happy at school and appreciate your ongoing support. With that in mind, my first reminders are just to make sure your child has a clean mask and water bottle every day. We have purchased extra water and masks, as has our fabulous PTO, but if you will kindly remember these two items as part of your daily come-to-school routine, it helps tremendously. I also want to remind you that the district has established a policy for not accepting any items dropped off at school. This includes lunch boxes, coats, backpacks, or water bottles. If students forget their lunchbox, I promise they won’t go hungry! We will get them a lunch tray and rock on. The fewer folks we have in and out of our building, and the less handling of items, the safer our school will be. Since it is turning colder, I’d also like to ask you to please send a coat with your child every day. We are adamant about trying to go outside as often as we can, especially in these days of Covid so students have opportunities to remove their masks. Even in extremely cold temperatures, research indicates that fresh air for short periods of time with proper warm attire is actually BETTER at eliminating common germs. Germs incubate in warmer temperatures, not cold. As always, help us keep items with their owner by labeling your child’s coat, hats, gloves, etc. with his or her NAME. I hope you remembered to set your clocks back one hour last night so you won’t be sitting here an hour early tomorrow morning! Be sure you check out the Video from our Book Character Parade on Friday! We had SO much fun! Have a great week!

Hello again from Mrs. Edwards, your principal at CES. We are excited about getting to include some fun activities this week as we educate students about making healthy choices for our body during Red Ribbon Week. Our dress up days this week are posted on Facebook and sent home last week. Monday-Don’t get Mixed Up with Drugs (Wear mismatched clothing) Tuesday-Don’t let Drugs Put you to Sleep (Pajama day) Wednesday-Put a Lid on Drugs (Wear a hat) Thursday-Hornets Don’t Do Drugs (Wear Hornet Blue) Friday is our Book Character Parade. Students may dress as their favorite book character and bring their book to share with their class. No scary costumes will be permitted. Bryant Schools is providing an opportunity for parents to change their student's instructional option (blended or virtual) beginning second semester (January 2021). In order to effectively plan schedules for student classes, we are asking parents to submit a form for EACH student (K-12) even if you plan to continue your current learning environment. PreK parents should not complete this form since PreK is only offered onsite. We will use your selection to place your elementary student in an onsite/virtual classroom or develop your secondary student's schedule for the second semester (January 2021) of the school year. Information on both blended and virtual learning is available on our website: bit.ly/2StNz1c. If you have questions, please email your building principal. THE FORM WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2020 at 11:59pm. Instructional Option for Second Semester: bit.ly/3lQ6iR1 Instructional Option for Second Semester (en español): bit.ly/2SZW04G
