The bill to support an earlier start date for schools across the state has been signed into law by Governor Sanders. The calendar for next school year has been finalized with a start date of Monday, August 14.

Please make note of the following:
The calendar will have a Fall Break (October 20, 23, 24). The 3-day break, which includes a weekend, would be a great time to take advantage of price breaks for fall vacations so students would not miss instructional time.
School will not be in session on April 8. Saline County is a focal point for viewing the total solar eclipse happening on this date. The county is expecting thousands (even hundreds of thousands) of tourists which would make transportation difficult for our staff and students.
The alternative calendar allows districts to count instructional minutes, rather than days. AMI days are not available with an alternative calendar. Five additional days have been built in for emergencies or weather-related (snow) days. If more than five days are missed, days will be added at the end of the school year.
The district calendar has 175 student interaction days, the same as this year.
The Pre-K calendar differs with 178 student interaction days. PreK students will attend school three additional days: October 24, May 22 and May 23.
