Social Emotional Learning directly influences a student's academic achievement and their ability to learn. Bryant’s commitment to Capturing Kids’ Hearts shows how much we love our students and families. Even in difficult times, our public schools are making connections each day with their students, families and broader communities. #PublicSchoolProud

Bryant Schools is excited to welcome students and staff back to campus and classes tomorrow, Tuesday, February 23.
We would like to extend a special thank you to our administrators for driving the roads in our district to determine if they were safe for bus routes. We also want to thank to our city and county street crews for clearing roadways.
As a reminder, ALL students will be dismissed early tomorrow for Secondary Parent-Teacher Conferences. While an early dismissal is not optimal after being remote for six days, the date was already set on the school calendar. Find the early dismissal schedule here: bit.ly/2ZtL968.
(Please Note: Grade 10 and grade 12 students will have a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, February 23 while grade 11 students take the free ACT-11 exam on campus. Grade 11 students who have opted-out of the free ACT-11 exam will also have a Remote Learning Day. The ACT exam date has been scheduled since last semester.)
See you tomorrow, Hornets!

No doubt public schools look different this year. Bryant Public Schools have provided onsite instruction FIVE days a week while keeping our students safe, learning and growing. Learn more at bit.ly/3by5YCS and join us in celebrating #PublicSchoolsWeek.

Since many of the side roads in our district remain hazardous, Bryant Schools (including Pre-K) will be closed for onsite classes on Monday, Feb. 22. This will be a Remote Learning Day for students.
Students will access their assignments through Google Classroom.
Since paper packets were sent home with only five days of school assignments, teachers will work with students who do not have a device and/or internet to complete assignments for this remote learning day.

Parents,
I'm hopeful you and your child have had plenty of opportunities to celebrate the beautiful snow this week! I have enjoyed the fun pictures you have uploaded to our HCES PTO facebook page. I shared it on our HCE school page, too. Keep sharing! I will post a collage of our teachers and staff soon. We have all made memories this week. I wanted to reach out with a few pieces of information, including news on AMI work.
Our teachers put students first! We are blessed with the best at HCES. Teachers have been available daily to answer your child's questions about their Remote Learning Day/AMI assignments. Please be mindful that they have families and obligations before and after the school day ends. Their work day is 7:30-3:40, Monday -Friday. Kindly explain to your child the need to reach out to their teacher during the allotted time. If you reach out to them outside of school hours, there may not be an immediate response, as it may be the following school day before you get a reply. This is why we give up to 3 days to complete assignments upon returning from a Remote Day or AMI (snow) day. Teachers do what is best for students, let's show our appreciation for teachers by honoring their personal time. Thank you for your understanding.
Since this is a historic snow event for our area, HCE is extending a few additional days to get all AMI/Snow Day work turned in...The deadline is Friday, February 26. I will share this information with all students in our morning news show Monday. You have the remainder of today's school day to reach out to your teacher. Otherwise, it may be Monday before you get a reply.
Here is a message from Angie Lasiter at our District Hornet Health Center. The Hornet Health Center posted on our social media sites that we are sponsoring an art contest to honor Black History Month. Any type of art medium is encouraged, AND this is for all grades. We just ask that somewhere (on the back or bottom) note the name and grade of the artist. Many awards will be given and students will be acknowledged. I will have a panel of judges. Deadline was February 28th but due to me not reaching out to you to ask you to please pass along to students/parents, I am going to give it now a deadline of March 5th. All entries should be sent to me at the Hornet Health Center, Building 35, Bryant Elementary campus.
I can't wait to see our Hurricane Creek Patriots on Monday. It will be a busy week, so be on the lookout for another message about upcoming events, and information. Let me know if you need anything...I am here!

Principal, Hurricane Creek Elementary

REMINDER: ALL students will be dismissed early on Tuesday, February 23. Secondary schools (grades 6-12) will hold virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences from 2:00-7:30pm. Teachers will contact parents to set up a conference time.
