AP Week
This year's National Public Health Week theme is Building Bridges to Better Health. Healthy schools equal healthy communities. Students must be healthy to be educated and must be educated to be healthy. School nurses are public health's eyes and ears for the nation's children and families. School nurses work with children, families, communities, as well as public health departments and educators. The primary goal for school nurses is to keep children safe, healthy, and ready to learn. #NPHW

Hello Parents, I hope you enjoyed some rest and relaxation with your family and friends over the break last week. I sure enjoyed mine. Here are a few things to note. You can view the video of Mrs. Vergason talking about these notes by going to our Facebook page @HurricaneCreekElementary. Kindergarten and 5th graders will have Cap and Gown pictures taken Friday, April 2. If you are the parents of a K or 5th grade student, you should have received an email about the specifics on Tuesday. ACT Aspire testing begins next week for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. This is the time for our students to show-off their knowledge! All blended third through fifth graders will test next week on April 5-7. All virtual fifth graders will test April 8-9, our virtual fourth graders will test April 12-13, and our virtual third graders will test on April 14-15. You should have received an email the week before Spring Break with specific information. If you have questions, please call our office at 501-653-1012. It is very important your child arrive to school on time, get plenty of rest each night, and eat a healthy breakfast so they can perform to their highest ability on this test. Remember, all students have access to a free cafeteria breakfast all year. Our Focus word for the month of April is "No Put Downs." We want to show kindness everyday with words that build up our classmates and friends, rather than bring them down. Thank you for sharing your child with us each day. Hurricane Creek is a safe place, a place of respect, and a place where learning happens! Make it a great day, or not...the choice is yours. Jacqueline Vergason Principal, Hurricane Creek Elementary

Hello Parents of Kindergarten and 5th Grade Students, Cap and Gown pictures will be taken this Friday morning, April 2, in the gym at HCES. Due to new restrictions, Lifetouch will not use caps, so plan hairstyles accordingly. All gowns will be steamed between usage. If you have a virtual K or 5th grade student, your picture time will be 10:30-11:00. Lifetouch will leave at 11:00, so you must be on time in order to get a picture taken. You will drop off your child in the back parking lot where you did for NWEA testing. A teacher will walk them back to your car afterwards. It will only take 5-7 minutes, so we ask that you wait in your car during the photo shoot. NOTE: See the attached flyer to place an online order. The date is incorrect on this form, but everything else is correct. The correct date is April 2. Thank you, Jacqueline Vergason Principal, Hurricane Creek Elementary
