At Parkway Elementary, being BOLD means taking initiative, being BRAVE means persevering through challenges, and being BRYANT means working together to inspire success.
Assistant Principal Leslie Smith and 5th grader Christopher Palma teamed up to reach new heights. Every afternoon, you can find them in Mrs. Smith's office, reading together. Earlier this year, Mrs. Smith recognized that Christopher needed extra support with reading. Determined to help him succeed before middle school, she built a strong relationship with him and invited him to practice reading with her daily.
To keep Christopher motivated, Mrs. Smith created a sticker chart proudly displayed on her door. Each day, Christopher adds a sticker as he completes another book. At parent-teacher conferences, Christopher excitedly brought his mother to see his progress. Mrs. Smith praised him, and Christopher proudly translated her words into Spanish for his mother.
Thanks to their dedication, Christopher recently earned his first perfect score on a reading comprehension quiz. His confidence and skills are growing every day.
Mrs. Smith’s bold actions, brave dedication, and unwavering commitment exemplify what it means to be Bryant. She is inspiring. She is BRYANT!
