The entire Bryant Schools staff met Wednesday, August 24 for our annual district-wide professional development day. More than 1,100 BPSD employees were in attendance.
Our morning began with a breakfast provided by First Security Bank and a visit from the Legacy of Bryant band. The Legacy and their drumline showed off their skills and got us excited to start the day!
When everyone came together in Love Auditorium, Superintendent Dr. Karen Walters and Deputy Superintendent Todd Sellers opened the assembly by welcoming our new team members and thanking First Security Bank and Everett Buick GMC for providing t-shirts for all Bryant Schools employees.
The first ever Bryant Faculty Choir graced the stage, singing Lovely Day, led by Choral Director Tanner Oglesby. Bryant High School’s new Assistant Choral Director Lisa Hatfield also introduced herself to the crowd with a solo! Schools and departments across our district were represented among the choir members.
As always, our staff were recognized for their 5 year milestones. Employees who reached 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 year milestones were presented with their years-of-service pins.
Among our guests were Stuart Norton from First Security Bank, Tracey Childress from Cooper Anthony Mercy Child Advocacy Center, and our keynote speaker George Couros. Couros is an innovative teaching, learning and leadership consultant, as well as a speaker and author.
Bethel Middle School Principal Donaven Sims rounded out the presentations with a launch for our team. He spoke on the topic “Why Bryant.”
Thank you to the speakers, administrators and community partners who inspired and encouraged our teachers and staff to BE BOLD, BE BRAVE, & BE BRYANT this school year!
