Safety & Security

Introduction

No topic is more important than the safety and security of our schools. Our work to strengthen safety and security measures at Bryant Schools is continuous and ongoing. We work tirelessly to support the physical, emotional and social safety of our students and staff.

Safety experts agree that relationships are the key component in preventing tragedies. While we will focus on safety and security, we will also continue our work of building and strengthening relationships through the Social and Emotional Learning and the processes of Capturing Kids’ Hearts.

Statistics consistently show that schools are among the safest places to be due to the strong commitment of educators, families, and community to our students and schools.

Crisis Plans

Bryant Public Schools is committed to providing a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. We work closely with our first responders in order to ensure our schools are well prepared for an emergency. The district, along with each individual school, has developed comprehensive plans that cover a wide variety of emergencies and serves as a guide to help staff and our public safety partners respond swiftly should a crisis occur in our schools. These plans are reviewed and updated yearly. Additional measures are in place to enhance security.

ALICE

The district utilizes the ALICE method (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) to prepare and plan on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event. Training is conducted for staff and students with schools practicing an active shooter drill annually.
