Safety and Security Measures

Because of our commitment to safety and security preparedness, Bryant Public Schools has measures in place to protect our learning environments. Some of these include:

  • District Crisis Plan (updated annually)*

  • School safety plans and emergency response procedures (ALERRT, Avoid | Deny | Defendโ„ข) with training for staff (updated annually)*

  • Crisis Communications Plan, which includes parent notification procedures

  • Nursing staff and additional personnel trained in CPR, First Aid, and Stop the Bleed

  • Nine schools and Pre-K earned Heart Safe School designation from Project ADAM and Arkansas Children's Hospital for cardiac emergencies

  • Integrated curriculum and processes to increase school safety (Capturing Kidsโ€™ Hearts)

  • Bark for Schools web content filter

  • Partnerships with local emergency responders (Bryant Police Department, Bryant Fire Fire Department, Shannon Hills Fire and Police, Benton Police Department, Saline County Sheriffโ€™s Office) and collaboration for meeting, training, and planning

  • Armed presence at each school: School Resource Officers (SROs) or Commissioned School Security Officers (CSSOs) 

  • Campus monitors to assist with supervision on BHS campus

  • Secure entryways in each school

  • Visitor sign-in procedures, including camera recognition and visitor buzzer symptoms

  • Exterior entrance/exit doors with adjacent glass covered with break resistant film

  • Classroom doors equipped with storm door locks ( auto lock when door is closed, but accessible from inside)

  • Emergency response drills with students and staff (fire, tornado, and active shooter)

  • Over 1,400 cameras located throughout all school campuses

  • Video surveillance on buses

  • Presence of first aid kits, fire extinguishers, AED machines, and Stop the Bleed stations

  • Hornet Tip line on Bryant Public Schools App

  • Threat Assessment processes

What you can expect if a situation should occur:

  • School emergency response procedures will be implemented. 

  • All appropriate emergency response agencies will be dispatched to the school, as needed.

  • The district Administration Office will be informed and will respond quickly and effectively to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

  • Depending on the situation, students and staff will be secured within the building or evacuated to a safe location.

  • Families will be kept informed on the situation with as much detail as possible to ensure the safety of all students and response personnel.
