After surveying both parents and staff regarding options, an Alternative Calendar was brought to the Board for approval at the January meeting. 

An alternative calendar is one built on instructional hours versus instruction days. Due to new legislation, schools may design the calendar based on a minimum of 1,068 hours with 30 extra hours built in for inclement weather. Bryant’s approved calendar offers 33.75 hours above the 1,068 hours required by law. 

AMI days are not available with an alternative calendar. If less than 33.75 instructional hours are missed due to inclement weather, sickness, etc., no hours have to be added to the calendar. If 33.75 hours are exceeded, hours would have to be added, but could be spread out over several existing student days.
