School-Based Mental Health Program
At Bryant School District, we understand that mental health is a critical component of a student’s overall well-being and academic success. Our School Based Mental Health (SBMH) Program is designed to provide comprehensive mental health services directly within our schools, ensuring that students have the support they need to thrive.
Services We Provide
Our SBMH Program offers a wide range of services to address the mental health needs of our students. Some of the services include:
Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions with our therapists to address personal mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Group Therapy: Small group sessions that provide peer support and address common issues such as social skills, stress management, and coping strategies.
Family Support (Triple P Parenting Program): Sessions that involve family members to address relational issues and improve communication and support within the family unit.
Crisis Intervention: Immediate assistance for students experiencing acute mental health crises, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Case Management: Our case workers assist with coordinating care, connecting families with community resources, and providing ongoing support and follow-up.
When SBMH is Appropriate
Our SBMH program is specifically designed to address mental health concerns that interfere with a student's academic performance and school life. This includes, but is not limited to, issues such as:
Anxiety and stress related to schoolwork
Depression affecting attendance and participation
Behavioral challenges in the classroom
Social skills and peer relationship difficulties
While our SBMH services are tailored to address school-related mental health issues, there are instances where students may need additional support that goes beyond what we can provide. For mental health concerns that are not directly impacting school performance, we recommend seeking help from private therapists or community mental health providers. This includes issues such as:
Long-term therapy for chronic mental health conditions
Family therapy
Substance abuse treatment
Specialized therapeutic services
Medication Management & Services
We believe in a collaborative approach to mental health care and are committed to working with families to ensure students receive the comprehensive support they need.
How to Access SBMH Services
Our mental health services are available to Bryant students who meet the established referral criteria. School counselors serve as the gatekeepers of our SBMH Program. They are responsible for identifying students who may benefit from mental health services and making referrals based on established criteria. This process ensures that students receive appropriate and timely support tailored to their specific needs. If you have questions about SBMH or making a referral for services for your child, please contact your child’s school counselor.
At Bryant School District, we believe that mental health is a critical component of overall well-being and academic success. Our School-Based Mental Health Program is here to support our students every step of the way, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for growth and learning.
Meet Our Team
Jill Landrum, Bryant School District SBMH Coordinator, oversees all aspects of the program to ensure that our students receive the highest quality of care. We also have the following mental health professionals on staff to meet our students’ needs:
Licensed Therapists: Our program features three full-time, licensed therapists who are dedicated to providing individualized support and therapy to students. These professionals bring a wealth of experience and specialized knowledge to help students navigate a variety of mental health challenges.
Purchased Service Therapists: To ensure that all student needs are met, we also employ part-time therapists on a purchased service basis. This flexibility allows us to address specific cases and provide more flexible scheduling at the secondary school level.
Case Managers: We have two full-time case managers who work closely with students and their families to coordinate care, connect them with necessary resources, and provide ongoing support throughout the therapeutic process.
