Arkansas Surgeon General Greg Bledsoe visited Bryant Elementary to celebrate the five filling stations awarded by Healthy Active Arkansas as part of the Rethink Your Drink: Choose Water campaign.
As part of the program, schools have committed to encouraging students and staff to choose water over sugar beverages. District nurses have been supporting the campaign by promoting Hornet Hydration.
Angela Lasiter, Hornet Health Center Coordinator, and Brenda Chase, Nurse Supervisor, wrote the grants to obtain the water filling stations at Bryant Elementary, Bryant Middle, Collegeville Elementary, Salem and Springhill.
Drinking plenty of water, if the water is fluoridated, plays an important role in preventing cavities and maintaining oral health. Further, drinking water can help combat obesity, increase energy levels, increase students’ cognitive functions, and drive positive changes in overall hydration habits.
